Saying Goodbye - Helping Children Deal With Loss

Saying Goodbye - Helping Children Deal With Loss We all have, or will have, to face feelings of loss or grief, And it can be hard when children are the ones that have to feel those feelings. Here the very wise Kati Lette describes how she handled the death of a family pet with her own children. "It has been very difficult for Shay and I to watch our children go through losing our sweet dog, Malachi. He has been a part of our lives for almost 9 years and has been by our side as we have raised our children. Unfortunately, all we can do is be here for them to cry on and help them work through all the different emotions and phases of grief. Ultimately, I think they will come out of this stronger in character and hopefully will be able to help and understand others experiencing the same thing."  There are some books below that I hope will help too. Soemthing Beautiful - Joann Newsom -  Cosmia Joanna Newsom grew up in the small town of  Nevada City, California . As a child, she was not allowed to watch television or listen to the radio because she was raised by parents who she described as, "kind of idealists when it came to hoping they could protect her from bad influences".  She was exposed to music from a young age. Her father played the guitar and her mother was a classically trained pianist, Joanna attended a Waldorf school where she studied theater and learned to memorize and recite long poems. This skill helps her to remember lyrics while on tour. At the age of five, Newsom asked her parents if she could play the harp. Her parents eventually agreed to sign her up for harp lessons. From her instructor, Joanna learned composition and improvisation.  She writes the most beautiful and lyrical songs. Here she is singing Cosmia. Wendy Mason is a career coach.  She helps people reach their goals and asp
