Your Emotions - When You Feel Hurt

Your Emotions – When You Feel Hurt! When you feel hurt you are usually responding to what you see as an injustice. Usually you feel hurt when you feel something isn’t fair - someone has let you down or treated you in a way you feel is not right. Often, when you feel hurt you will withdraw from the person who has hurt you and stop all communication with them. Others might see this as resentment or aloofness and some see you as sulking. Please don't Sulk! Sulking can be silent sulking or it might be angry, noisy sulking with the slamming of doors and much huffing and puffing. Sometimes you just snipe at someone close to you without saying why.  "Surely, if he loved me enough He would know why!" Often behavior like this is about getting even or punishing – at the very least you want an apology. But sulking rarely achieves the outcome that you want. It can make you more miserable than the person you believe has transgressed. Overcom

Are You A Lark or An Owl? Understand Your Body Clock!

Eastern Screetch-Owl Are You A Lark or An Owl? Understand Your Body Clock! Your body clock enables you to synchronise the working of your body with day and night. The actual 'clock' is a cluster of about 10,000 nerve cells deep in your brain in the hypothalamus. T he hypothalamus controls  body temperature ,  hunger ,  thirst ,  fatigue,  sleep , and  circadian cycles - your body clock. Light coming in through the eyes helps the body clock to keep in time with day or night and it resets slightly every day. One of the most important ways in which the body clock works is by triggering the production of hormones such as the stress hormones, adrenalin and cortisol, produced by the adrenal glands, and melatonin, a hormone secreted during darkness by the pineal gland in the brain, which helps regulate sleep cycles. Knowing how your internal body clock works can help you make the most of your waking hours.  It is quite natural for some people to want to wake up e

Wonderful Wheatgrass

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) There are many claims for the health benefits of wheatgrass from providing a useful food supplement to curing various deseases. The benfits of wheatgrass were first discovered by Charles F Schnabel, an agricultural chemist. He used fresh cut grass in an attempt to nurse some dying hens back to health. The hens not only recovered, but they produced eggs at a higher rate than healthy hens. Encouraged by his results, he began drying and powdering grass for his family and neighbors to supplement their diets. The following year, Schnabel reproduced his experiment and achieved the same results. Hens consuming rations supplemented with grass doubled their egg production. Schnabel's research was conducted with wheatgrass grown outdoors in Kansas Among other things, it has been claimed that wheatgrass helps blood flow , digestion and general detoxification of the body. But these claims have not yet been proved.  Wheatgrass contains no wheat gluten. But

Public Speaking, Personal Confidence, and the ‘Shy Extrovert’

Today we have a special guest post.  To make it really useful to you, it includes some very personal experience so on this occasion I'm not going to publish the name of the writer.  But she has my very grateful thanks. Public Speaking, Personal Confidence, and the ‘Shy Extrovert’ Forget chicken soup for the soul, one of the best cures for lack of confidence and some forms of depression could in fact be public speaking. Usually the benefits of becoming a competent public speaker are seen as advancing your career prospects or building your reputation, if you are in business! In fact it is seen as being good for any cause you want to promote. Public speaking is a ‘skill’ but I would like to propose that it can also be a great ‘medicine.’ Just as exercise is recommended for increasing serotonin levels in the brain, getting your mind and body to perform under pressure can also give you a high! As for me, well, I found that beating one of my worst nightmares was actually
